DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

We believe that the Scriptures, the Old and New Testaments, are inspired by God (II Timothy 3:16-17).  They are inerrant and infallible, the supreme and final authority for faith and practice.

We believe in God, the creator of Heaven and earth; He is eternal, almighty, unfailing,  unchangeable, infinitely wise, just, and holy.  We believe that God eternally exists in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1)

We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16), the eternal Word manifested in the flesh (John 1:14).  We believe that He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary.  He is the true God/Man. (Luke 1:26-35)

We believe that man is created in the image and likeness of God.  He fell through sin, and because of his sin, the image of man is marred.  Man lost his spiritual life, becoming dead in trespasses and sins. (Genesis 1:17; 3:1-24)

We believe that man is spiritually dead and totally depraved and that this depravity is transmitted to the entire human race through natural birth (I Corinthians 15:21), Jesus Christ being the only exception. (I Peter 2:22; II Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 7:26)

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as our representative and substitutionary sacrifice.  All who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood.  (Romans 5:8; Romans 4:25).  We believe that through Christ, man is reconciled to God on the condition that he or she believes and accepts His finished work at Calvary.  (Romans 5:6-11; II Corinthians 5:19)

We believe in the bodily resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. (Luke 24:13-31; I Corinthians 15:1-8)

We believe that our Lord ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.  (Luke 24:44-53;

Acts 1:1-11)

We believe in his personal return to gather all his saints. (John 14:1-3; I Corinthians 15:52;I Thessalonians 4:16-17)

We believe that there is one Lord, one faith, and one baptism for all who love the Lord. (Ephesians 4:5-6)

We believe that all who receive Jesus Christ by faith as Lord and Savior are born again into the family of God by the Holy Spirit. (Acts 16:31)

We believe that all the gifts of the Spirit are operational in the church today.  Gifts such as speaking in tongues and healing are relevant in the church.  We also believe that all gifts must be carried out in biblical manner, e.g., if tongues are spoken, there must be an interpretation.  The Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 14:2:  “For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.”  He also says in verses 26-27 of this same chapter:  “How is it then, brethren, when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation.  Let all things be done unto edifying.  If any man speaks in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.”

If healing, then it must be carried out in biblical manner, e.g., James 5:14-15 says:  “Is any sick among you?  Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.”

Concerning prophecy, we believe in forthtelling and in foretelling, i.e., taking the word of God and saying thus saith the Lord.  God says Galatians 6:7, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”  If a person is sowing to the flesh, we can take the word of God and say to that person, God says that you will reap what you sow.

     Foretelling:  Having insight from the Holy Spirit into a situation beforehand and declaring it.

     Forthtelling:  Having prophetic insight from the Holy Spirit about something that has happened or is occurring at the present

     and declaring it.

We believe in the eternal security and everlasting blessedness of the saved and the eternal conscious punishment of the lost. (Matthew 25:46)

We believe that Christ instituted the ordinances of water baptism and the Lord’s Supper (I Corinthians 11:24-26) to be observed by believers until He returns.

We believe that the church of Jesus Christ is composed of the redeemed, those who are washed in His blood, regenerated, and sealed by the Holy Spirit.  We believe that a person receives salvation by grace alone through faith in Christ alone.  We also believe that God desires for all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.  It is the responsibility and privilege of every believer to proclaim the good news that Jesus saves.  (Romans 3:21-25)

We believe that there is a personal and real devil.  He is a being of great cunning and power.  He is the prince of the power of the air and the god of this age.  We believe that he exerts vast power, only as God permits.  The devil will ultimately be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone and be tormented forever. (Genesis 3; Ephesians 2:2;

Revelation 20:10).

We believe that without a vision, the people perish (Proverbs 29:18).
